Life Group Goals

As disciple makers, we focus on
ABIDING IN CHRIST, LEADING WELL, and SHEPHERDING.
To accomplish this, we have developed 5 goals for Life Groups:

Abiding in Christ

All Life Group Facilitators strive to abide in relationship with Jesus Christ; transforming the way we live in our homes, church and world.

Goal #1

VALUE GOD in prayer & devotion by spending time with Him daily

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

JOHN 15:5-6 (NIV)

Leading Well

All Life Group Facilitators equip God’s people for service and release them to be who God created them to be.

Goal #2

VALUE GROUP by making Life Group time a priority each week

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

EPHESIANS 4:11-13 (NIV)

Helpful Hints:

  • Prepare for group by reviewing the Facilitator Coaching page and praying for your group each week.
  • Meet consistently; resist the urge to cancel group.
  • Honor your group by starting on time.

Goal #3

VALUE PRESENCE by tracking attendance each week so that you know who is missing from your group

I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day.

EZEKIEL 24:12 (NLT)

Helpful Hints:

  • Follow the link in the email sent to you each week and enter attendance.
  • Life Group day is important but remember to keep in touch with your group members during the week.  We all need each other on this journey of occasional joy and suffering.  Life is better together.
  • Call to check on those who miss a group meeting.

Shepherding Our People

All Life Group Facilitators intentionally shepherd group members to become disciples of Jesus Christ who reproduce disciples of Jesus Christ.

Goal #4

VALUE THE RELATIONSHIP between Leader and Apprentice by debriefing together every week

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

ECCLESIASTES 4:9-10 (ESV)

Helpful Hints:

  • Understanding each other’s spiritual health will allow you to be best prepared to facilitate each week.
  • Spend 15-30 minutes before or after each group meeting to discuss how the group is doing. Pay close attention to what group members grasp; both positive and negative.
  • Pray together for the week to come.

Goal #5

VALUE OTHERS by sharing shepherding responsibilities

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

ROMANS 12:4-8 (NIV)

Helpful Hints:

  • Share facilitating responsibility with others in the group.
  • Promote relationship by encouraging group members to meet with one another throughout the week.
  • Remember, you are not alone.
  • Listen to “I am Not Alone” by Kari Jobe

We are better together,
so let’s work together to
MULTIPLY GOD’S KINGDOM, MAKE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST AND GLORIFY GOD!

May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ROMANS 15:5-6 (NLT)
